Raul Rogue Rodriguez was a filmmaker, an artist, and a close friend.

His middle name was supposed to be Roque, after his father,
but they misspelled it on the birth certificate.

His life ended on the last day of 2011.

In this film I have presented a selection of Raul’s work, and also tried
to offer a glimpse into the life he lived and the ways he affected people.

If you knew Raul, I hope you’ll see sides of him both familiar and not.

If you didn’t know him…I hope it gives you even the slightest
understanding of who he was, what he meant to us all,
and how terribly you missed out.

[ LIFE ENDS; ART LIVES ON }

Tomorrow marks one month since the debut screening of my feature film about the complex life, death, and art of one of my closest friends - truly, a brother - Raul Rogue Rodriguez.

Today, it’s yours. I present: ROGUE.

(It’s a love story.)

I made this. This is me. Don’t ever watch it if you’re a cute girl.

ROGUE played to a packed house last night.

There were hearty laughs, heavy tears, and a standing ovation - followed by half the audience forming a line to offer hugs. Standing there at the computer, watching the crowd watch the film, there was no question in my mind that this was and will be one of the most important nights of my life.

I’m very proud, and very proud of all of us for producing such a spectacularly successful event to honor, remember, and celebrate our friend. I hope he would be too, or is.

Couldn’t agree more. Seeing my film in the program really changed me. Thanks, everyone.
